Ultrasonic Motion Sensors For Your Home Security Alarm System
There are several types of alarm motion detector sensors and one such device is
the ultrasonic motion sensor. These devices monitor a certain area and are used
to activate an alarm system if they detect motion.
There are two types of ultrasonic motion sensor: active and passive. Active sensors
emit ultrasonic sounds which are beyond the frequency of the human ear. Passive
sensors consist of only receivers that simply listen for sounds. As these devices
are one of the most sensitive of the alarm detection systems, they are also one
of the most expensive.
These systems utilize advanced technology and are one of the most comprehensive
of detection systems. But, they are expensive, and under some conditions prone to
false alarms by things like passing birds or insects, gusts of wind or vibrations
caused by airplanes passing overhead. Passive systems do not provide complete detection
in areas with large objects thus creating a “dead” zone and in those cases another
type of detection system may be required in addition to the ultrasound system.
