Residential Security Systems
Residential Security Systems are rapidly becoming a necessity for every homeowner.
With the global economy in its current state, burglaries are on the increase so
if your not protected it could just be a matter of time until your are burgled.
Don’t be a victim and take action now. Most people wait until they have been burgled
before they have a home security system installed – don’t let it happen to you and
after all, prevention is better than cure.
Burglar alarm systems
were once considered a luxury but over the recent years have become far more affordable
for everyone. Alarm systems have got more sophisticated and reliable for a reasonable
cost so there is no excuse in not getting one installed. They can also provide safety
as well as security and have the ability to detect fires and carbon monoxide fumes.
A residential security system consists of a main control panel, a siren and several
sensor monitoring devices. The main control panel is used to arm/disarm the system
and to turn on/off zones within your property. The siren will obviously be activated
when someone triggers to system. The system is triggered by a signal that is sent
from the alarm sensor devices. Some devices provide a delay before they send their
signal and some send their signal immediately. The delay sensors are usually installed
on your main entrance/exit into your property so that you have time to arm/disarm
the system. This delay time is when you property is at its most venerable so you
wont want to install too many delay type alarm sensors.
Alarm monitoring sensors
come in various types to monitor different scenarios. The most common type of sensor
are: magnetic door sensors which trigger when a door is opened, shock sensors which
are often used on windows and detect when the glass have been broken and there are
motion PIR detectors which detect movement by a change in heat. Other sensors include
fire/smoke detection and carbon monoxide detection.
There are two main types of home security systems,
hard wired and wireless.
Hard wired systems are usually more permanent and more reliable however installation
costs are higher.
Wireless alarms systems
are now becoming very popular as a method of
home security self install.
It is a relatively straightforward install for a DIY’er thus keeping installation
costs to a minimum.
Wireless alarm systems are far more reliable that what they
were a few years ago.
One major benefit of a good quality alarm system is its ability to be monitored
by a
security alarm monitoring center.
For a small monthly fee you can be assured that your home will be watched 24 hours
a day. Most of the best alarm companies that manufacture alarm systems have additional
buttons of the main alarm control panel that can call for fire, police and medical
assistance. It is peace of mind to know someone is there to help you in an emergency.
