Night Vision Security Cameras
Night vision cameras are obviously used for capturing images in darker environments.
For better security, it is possible to purchase and install day/night vision cameras
that capture intruders trying the break into your property in the day or night time.
Most night vision cameras work on the principle of infrared LED operation. So cameras
implementing
thermal imaging
techniques can capture the heat emitted by objects and as all humans emit some heat,
this is will be captured by the infrared device.
Night vision security cameras can have a considerably varying range. Most small
outdoor night cameras cover about 8 – 16 yards and in contrast, most professional
systems cover up to 30 yards.
The unit of measurement of night vision security cameras is represented as Lux and
the Lux rating is the minimum amount of illumination that a camera can pick up an
image. The closer the Lux value is to zero, the better the cameras ability will
be in low lighting conditions. Just like normal
security cameras,
night vision security cameras can also send their images to a VCR, DVR or a PC.
The images can then be either recorded to a tape, hard disk or any other storage
device, depending on the type of camera you have.
The cameras that have the ability for capturing day/night images will have extra
sensitive imaging sensors which will allow them to capture lighting conditions without
using infrared LED. Generally, these cameras will provide color images when monitoring
during the day and at night provide either black and white or green phosphor images.
The modern night vision security cameras can often be used both indoor and outdoor.
Some have built in microphones to pick up nearby sounds as well as remote control
capability. The outdoor cameras are generally made from weatherproof and waterproof
castings made of metals.
