Magnetic Alarm Detectors For Your Home Security Alarm System

Magnetic Detectors are the most common of the home burglar alarm sensors and are used on doors and windows to detect when they are opened. These devices are very cheap in cost as there is no electronics associated with these passive devices. When a door or window opens, the magnet simply triggers a switch that notifies the alarm control panel of the intrusion.

When the door is closed the magnet pulls a metal switch (called a reed switch) into its closed position to complete the circuit. When the door is opened the circuit breaks and hence fires the alarm.
A magnetic alarm sensor is a simple yet effective method of intruder detection and as it is a passive device, it is very reliable in operation. The read switch allows many thousands of open/closing before needing to be replaced.
These sensors can be fitted to windows also and it is recommended you fit all external doors and windows with magnetic alarm detectors as part of your home security strategy.
